The Baby! 1 by STM Systems is a rarely seen transportable microcomputer from 1976. It was produced by STM Systems Inc. of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire, and was based on the MOS Technology 6502 processor. Unlike many early hobbyist computers, it was not just a kit for experimenters but was offered as a complete assembled system.

Its compact acrylic enclosure integrated the mainboard, keyboard and power supply, and the machine was supplied in an attaché-style carrying case. In that sense it belongs to the small group of very early transportable personal computers, even though it is closer in concept to later home computers than to the laptop computers of the 1980s.

The Baby! 1 is historically interesting because it appeared at an extremely early moment in the 6502 era, before the best-known 1977 home computers had reached the market. Surviving examples are very uncommon, which makes it a highly interesting target for a collection focused on the earliest personal and microcomputer systems.
